romantic comedy poster

I'm super selective when it comes to "rom com" flicks, but I have a bunch of really bad designed web magazines with a bunch of untouched stock photos. I finally found a use for the useless stock business people. I also hate Twitter, so I thought it might be nice to mess with it.

drawin

Didn't want to work on the computer today, grabbed a pen and paper and drew one of my favorite things to do.

Busy day.

I had a full day of work plus some broadcast time so I had to open up illustrator somehow.

drawing girls

I forgot to upload this drawing I did yesterday. But it was my project for the day, trying to get better at drawing real folks especially girls. Man the legs are hard to draw.

Kilnamanagh mind and spirit

Wow, I'm definitely loving this brain exercise today. Used that album cover project exercise and this is what I got.

I wanted to originally use a Serif typeface, but I still have that love for the Sans Serif.

Tools: Photoshop, Flickr Archive

Made this before I started to do the "make something cool everyday" mission

This is a magazine layout which I imitated about 2 to 3 weeks ago. I thought I might as well upload this, but I won't count it as a project within the Make something cool everyday project.

straight to the point

It's 12:18am and this piece I made for 3/21/11. This piece was fun. I'm happy of the time put in for this one.

Tools: paper, mag cuts, glue, scissors, and pen.

Mars

I struggled a little today, spending a little more than 20 minutes. The time spent was 2 hours. I know that is a horrible timeframe. Alright, gotta go and skate, can't stare at the dreaded screen any longer.

wannabe info design

Thanks to my book: Graphic Design A Concise History, I thought I could attempt at doin some Information Design. I basically did a diagram of the pad.

I cringe looking at this.

Tools: scissors, paper, pen, and brain.

mock album cover

Ahh ahh, I didn't forget for 3/17/2011! I just started a little late at 11:30pm. Anyways it was thanks to Mike Duesenberg who designed album covers everyday for 1 full year that made me even want to get on the comp to do this.

I'll explain the process on the next fake album cover I do, but the tools are simple: digital archive photo, a monopoly card reference photo for the background, and photoshop.

I was basically imitating the "get out of jail" card from Monopoly.

So Off

Okay, this one is off all over the place. There was no communication through this piece, aesthetically it was alright... But I'm glad I got it done before the day was over!

Tools: paper (catalog cutouts), permanent marker, glue and scissors.

The Lost Tale

Tools: Paper(magazine cut outs), scissors, and glue.

The mistakes that I have to work on are type spacing and alignment.

Tried to complete it in 30 minutes. Ended up taking 90 minutes.

The Beat Kitchen and Boxtime

I have to thank my mentors, friends and family for standing behind me. Even after the past 3 months of 2011, I'm glad I still have my people. 2 is not enough, gotta make more...

Make Something Everyday

It's been a minute since I've been "plugged" to the net. Other than checking emails, uploading and downloading things I haven't found a need to be on a blog. In order to keep my brain juices flowing and working hard I decided to "make something cool everyday." I won't know if it's going to be possible to be consistent to this, but it's going to be nice to not be all talk. So with that being said, lets upload the first piece of work for this startup routine.

Since it's super easy to just take a computer program to "design", I thought of taking it to a level where I can appreciate and master the craft. I used a handmade process with nothing but paper, scissors and glue. Not the best, but it was fun.
